I have a few questiones regarding scoring units.
Firstlly, I can see in the rule book troops count as scoring and it lists exceptions.
I've noticed on a few threads people saying sternguard vets are scoring but I can't see it in the codex, could someone please point me in the right direction.
Also my mate plays eldar and we are yet to play 5th edition, but he was moaning as eldar armies comprise mainly of elites, etc... Can any eldar players shed some light on this?
Also if a rule states a unit type maybe selected as troops, do they then count as scoring?
a few questions there, i did search for other threads regarding this but came up short, so sorry of it is a repetition.
There is a special character who takes away Space Marine's Combat Tactics special rule and replaces it with one called Hold the Line which makes Sternguard scoring units.
Oh and yes, troops selections, unless specifically excluded are all scoring units.
As for Eldar, tough, they have to use some guardians...
cheers, thanks for replying
I agree about Eldar, it's easy for them to build a cheesy lists.
Well guardians, guardian jetbikes and avengers all make very good scoring units, only in different ways.
Or (if i'm not mistaken) wraithguard given you take a full unit, you don't easily shift 10 T6 3+ save models out of cover (or in the open to be fair) in a hurry.
aren't wraithguard 2+ saves?
And eldar have nothing to worry about in the scoring units department. They have so many different troop choices, one of which is the best home objective defender out there. The pathfinder gets a 2+ cover save in almost anything. Try shifting that (excluding all the ignore cover stuff space marines now have)
Then you have guardians which are cheap for what they do and can possibly always have a cover save, then avengers which are amazing and have access to the fastest transport in the game, and then you have guardian jetbikes which are amazing, fast, decently durable and can turbo boost to get that objective in the late stages of the game and then their's the 6 wraithguard in a wave serpent zooming towards your objective. Pretty scary.
Your mate shouldn't have anything to worry about, he's got plenty of weapons that can still capture objectives.

Killed 900 pts worth of Blood Angels in 2 turns while only loosing 4 pts.
Yes they do. They have switched allegiance from one FOC choice to another. Also if a rule states a unit type maybe selected as troops, do they then count as scoring?
