I am wondering if this is a legal thing to do in an Apocalypse game.. To give a bit more detail about how devious I am planning to be: I will be playing against a 'Nid player who apparently tends more to "play to win" and can take things quite seriously. This isn't a problem for me, by the way. However, I am planning to use a Tigershark AX-1-0, a couple of Interdiction Forces and a load of Piranhas/Airborne Fire Warriors with their Strategic Redeployment special assets. The Commander will have the Positional Relay and will be surrounded by as many Kroot and Hounds as I can shake a stick at (*Genestealer Fear!*). These latter are the only models I intend to place "on-table" at the start of the game. My intention is to use the Pos Rel to keep back everything in Turn Two bar the Tigershark, then have everything come on in Turn Three, use their redeployment assets and settle in behind the Nid force. The problem is that I am uncertain as to the legality of using the Positional Relay rule to overrule the Apocalypse rule for Turn Two. On Turn Two of an Apoc game, the rules state that Quote:
So.... My questions are these: 1: Can the Pos Rel be used to prevent me having to bring on up to half my reserves, whether I have to make the D6 roll or not? Depending on the result of Q1: 2: Apoc rules do not require a specified D6 result to allow reserves to come on. If I wish to use the Positional Relay to delay all Reserves bar the "one I really want", do I still have to roll that D6 as per the Codex rules? Thanks for your help, guys. E.

Thats a tough one. The positional relay does say that you can bring on 1 unit at the cost of rolling normally. It could be a bit sneaky alright, but I say go for it. It seems pretty legal. As for roll, you would have to roll the 2+ to get your tiger shark in, as the codex specifically states you must. If the codex overwrites one part of the 'core rules' it must overwrite the rest of it!

There's another element in the Apoc rules too about Reserves on Turn Two: it says "up to half". Does this then mean that any number of reserves from zero to half the total can be brought on? In other words, I can just choose the Tigershark without recourse to the Positional Relay? E.

Up to means exactly that. I think you don't need to worry about the relay at all.

That's fair enough by me. Thank you all for your input, it's greatly appreciated. E.
