Ok, I've read the sticky, and ended up here. My Question is this:
In the Black Templars Codex, a Storm Shield gives a 4+ Inv Sv, but in the 5th ed Space Marine Codex, the shield gives a 3+ Inv Sv. Would it be viable to use the 5th ed SM Codex ruling instead of the BT Codex Ruling, while still using the Vows and other BT Codex Rules?
Sorry if this question is a bit weird sounding. But this does bring me to another question:
Model points for the BT differ from those for tactical marines and such of the 5th ed SM Codex. But, you get free Frag & Krak Grenades from the 5th ed SM Codex. Do i get to use the free Grenades for my Neophites and Initiates, or do I have to pay the point cost per Model as indicated in the BT Codex?
Hope these questions have not been asked before. I did a search, but could not find anything. Please help. Thank you in advance.
No & No, Codex is played exactly as written. If you want to use rules from the new book, you must use the new book entirely. No mix'n'match across Codices. c'est la vie
Ah. Thank you, makes sense I guess. ^^
The Dark Angels FAQ says this:E.Q. There are a number of cases where things with the same name have different rules or characteristics in Codex Space Marines and Codex: Dark Angels, such as the different transport capacity for the Land Raider. There are also a number of new items of equipment in the Space Marines Codex that are not this one. Which version of the rules should I use, the latest version, or the one in Codex: Dark Angels?
A. Strictly, you should always use the rules from your own Codex, and this is the default solution you must use if you and your opponent can’t come up with a better one (you’ll find that this might be the case in tournaments, for example!).
"Tau Commandment #226: Participants who use Velocity Trackers in the Tau Clay Pigeon Tournament will be disqualified"
But dont dwell on the negatives.... focus on the good stuff we get to keep due to codex wording. A vow that lets us re-roll hits each combat round?! sweet! 2Assltcan termies per squad? Beautiful! Giving assault termies furious charge... w/re-roll to hit? pure golden awesomesauce.
