Which base size(s) are legal for terminators?
In the interest of safer deep striking the smaller (28mm) instead of the larger (40mm) bases is what I would prefer.
The only GW ruling I have found is that you must use the bases the model came with and can go bigger if you want...what if you have the old termies that came with the smaller bases?
As far as I know, if you actually have the old models that came with 28mm then those would be legal (thats how we play it anyways), but any termie that came with a base larger than 28mm would have to use those instead, thus no claiming that since the old ones could the new ones can as well.

Spambot kill tally. . .337
Whatever base that came with that model is legal minimum and the deployment area is the legal maximum.
(Yes, you could have a 2 foot square base (or bigger) if it fits within the deployment zone boundaries!)
But you are after using what is the smallest, and as long as you can support claim that they are the supplied bases, then your good to go.
In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
Depends, how much of a jerk you want to appear as?
As some point people tend to leave the realm of having fun, and enter the realm of wanting to min/max everything. Where do you want to draw the line, and how much do you want to save face against a player that isn't going to agree with your view.
Tyranid and Eldar player....don't ask me how I ended up playing these two armies, just smile, nod, slowly move away and don't make eye contact!
Terminators go on on the medium base not the small one.
I don't think the small ones would be allowed in tournaments.
I wouldn't allow it as all terminators come with 40mm bases now.

That's true, even though I, personally, would use a measuring stick to see what is within "legal" base contact.
And besides I've been dying to use that link for a week.
All my models cost 2 points, have meltaguns, and carry storm shields.
All of my opponents move 2 inches, wear no armor, and carry grot blasters.
If you'd like to make up your own rules, play with GI Joes please. If you'd like to have a nice ruleset to follow, then read the BRB.
In response to the OP, you use the bases supplied with your models when you bought them (assuming you bought them new). If you really want to spend the money and time, buy old termies. Personally, I think it's not in the spirit of fun, but that's also not why some people play.
