It says that an IG command platoon is a single unit for army selection, deployment, and reserves purposes. Does that mean you can deploy the whole thing in dawn of war?
Thats how I play it, and yes, you could say that this would give guard an edge .
Being able to deploy
support teams X 5
and two troop choices for another
Command Squad X 2
10 X 10man squads
While marines would maybe deploy
20 tac marines
BUT, there is the cursed night fight in the first round, so shooting might be limited.
Oh, however, a guard infantry platoon does not say it acts as a single unit for deployment like the command platoon does. Says that they arrive from reserves together (so I frequently have a platoon with plasmaguns and 4 grenade launchers in the command squad drop at once), but they're independent units in all other aspects. So just 2 squads of infantry there.
"each platoon counts as a single troop choice on the force organization chart when deploying. And is rolled for collectively when rolling for reserves. Otherwise they function as independent units"
And a platoon = 1 command squad + 2-5 infantry squads
Thus. My example would be correct
They do count as a single CHOICE, yes.
But dawn of war is 2 troop UNITS, not choices.
It's two units, not two FOC slots. Two squads/two tanks/one squad one tank/etc etc, that's all you get
Ah, I tripped on the wording there. Sorry about that, well in that case you are correct.
That means that everyone I play with have deployed wrong (marines with 10 man tacsquads + transports X 2.) Me with my 2 full troop choices + hq... well well, live and learn.
BUT then I have a question, if the marine player breaks his 10 man tacsquad down into
2 X 5 man combat squads, would that count as his two units?
Since they act as independant squads when they do that (dont have the marine codex at hand)
Cheers (and thanks for setting me straight!)
They would, since they count as two separate troops units.
Ive misread units here as well.
can i deploy 2 charcters and a hq squad as one unit?
say calgar, tigurius and honour guard?
