Force Weapons these days apply the Instant Death rule, unless you're using an old codex like Daemonhunters, otherwise Abaddon is immune.
You pit Abaddon and a Daemonhunter Grey Knight Grandmaster with the works (Icon, Sacred Incense, Ungents) and they will both wipe each other out on the same turn. Yes, the grey knight grandmaster's force weapons is that powerful.
The Daemonhunters use their own rule for Force Weapons still, and so Grey Knights Grand Masters, in a stricly interpreted sense, kill things outright instead of causing Instant Death. As a result, Abaddon is not immune to Daemonhunter force weapons, but is immune to run-of-the-mill every day instant killing psychically charged ... um, force weapons.

Since it hasn't been FAQ'd, the Daemonhunter force weapon is one of the very few inconsistencies from GW that I actually like. Of course, everyone else not playing DH would probably hate it.
But getting back to Chaos, Abaddon is a beast in combat! If you give him a unit of chaos terminators w/combi-plasmas/meltas or lightning claws and mount them in a Landraider....whoa, it's insane! That's arguably one of the deadliest combos in all of 40k (though I still think my GKGM + Grey Knight Termies in Landraider still has a chance to beat them).
its a force weapon, that causes instant death. force weapons were updated for everyone, not everyone except daemonhunters.
1: Thread Necromancy is annoying.
2: Include some detailed description and rule quotes that can at least give us an idea of what you are thinking *removed*.
4: At least put up a link to the reason you reanimated this.
Actually merging the two threads wouldn't be a half bad idea.
Here is a link to a thread that is currently discussing the same topic:
Sorry to sound like a jerk. I don't mind debating rules even if I'm almost set in my opinion. I just prefer to have a debate with some meat to it instead of complaints.

Hockeyman506, I fail to see how THeGuy87's post was whining, although you're right on all other accounts. As forum rules prescribe, necro-posting should be reserved for fresh insight into a thread. Second, as Hockeyman506 indicated, including references makes it much easier for members to give your response some serious thought.
I'm leaving the thread open for a little while longer, in order to give THeGuy87 a chance to defend his case. However, as far as I know, the Daemonhunter's codex takes precedence over other updates. That's typically the ruling GW makes in these sorts of scenarios, although there are some exceptions (can't recall off hand).
