Two questions that popped up in my game today:
1. Last man standing - all the rest of the unit were shot up, but he passed the Ld test and stayed. does he continue to take tests every movement like in 4th ed, or is there a 5th rule?
2. Unit re-grouping - I've started playing with orks, (i.e. non-fearless units), and regrouping seems a little unfair. If I understand the rules right, a unit of 10 boyz suffers 6 casualties and flees, it can never regroup, as it is below 50% of unit strength (AOBR rules p46).
Thanks for the help,
1. Last man standing checks have been removed altogether
2. Unfair how? Some armies have tricks for regrouping while below half i.e. Marines and ATSKNF, IG and Iron Discipline, Tau and Bonding Knives. Aside from those specific rules/pieces of equipment, no you can't rally when below half.
It seems a tad unfair that your army becomes fearless just by having 11 joes in a squad, or gets a unit entirely equipped with D3 shot autocannons, but the rest of us deal with it

Ork player complaining about something being unfair, I have seen it all now!! :p
I for one am going to agree whole-heartedly with kensei81 on this. The rule that units below 50% can't regroup is asinine and terrible for the game. There is nothing worse than having to watch your best units run away across the entire battlefield just because they lost one too many men in their squad. And that's even if they're Ld 10!
Me and some of my friends see eye-to-eye on this, so as a house rule, we've chosen to ignore it when we play against each other. So far, no problems at all have come of it, and our games feel more balanced & fun as a result.

As a Tau player (amongst other things) I like the rule. I would hate to have to kill every single last model in a unit. Not being able to regroup below 50% adds an extra element to the game that I quite enjoy.
Of the many goals of the rules of the game, 'realism' is not among them
Even if you do think the rule is unfair, what do you give as compensation to the armies who paid extra for abilities that get around it, when you take it out?
The whole point to the 50% rule is to encourage larger squad numbers and an Ork player should have absolutely no trouble in this regard methinks.
Larger squads are a trend that GW has tried to embrace in this edition of the rules, that and higher troop numbers – and if that doesn’t suit the Boyz then nothing will!
In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
thanks for the info everyone, my knowledge base has increased
it's nice to know that others feel my pain re/ regrouping. I'm only using the models from AOBR at the mo, so there isn't really a lot of choice for big squads.
i rekon a good house rule would be regrouping until 25% rather than 50%. that seems more realistic Imho.
again, thanks all.
It's 25% in WHFB, it does seem a little better.
