Since using my seeding swarm at my club all of once, I've been informed by the defacto "king of the club" (a really obnoxious IG player who most people don't particluarly like) that I'm forbidden from deepstriking with my seeding swarm ever again, effectively neutering a seeding swarm, (at least he thinks so). Since he didn't say I couldn't actually bring a seeding swarm list, (he actually invited me to) im thinking of bringing a list tailored to take advantage of the "without number rules" against a particularly power-game-y necron opponent (but a nice guy, actually).
I'm wondering if WON genestealers get to infiltrate. Assuming we are playing with the latest rules on a cleanse mission (most likely scenario) and successfully roll for infiltration rules, would my WON 'stealers get to infiltrate? I know they'd get to deepstrike once he wipes out the brood, but it would be that much cooler if they could start really close.
With what authority can this guy forbid you to deepstrike your seeding swarm?
The IG player seems to be some sort of a major player in the club... Thus it seems to be within his powers to decide things like how the scenarios are chosen.
As far as WON goes, it does not negate the 'Stealers ability to Infiltrate... Thus, one infiltrates the WON 'Stealers, the opponent shoots them, and *Poof!*, the 'Stealers recycle next turn, Deepstriking into the rear of his army! =)
BTW, this would be a nasty tactic even for Battle Scenarios, since You can choose to either DS or Infiltrate... Thus with 'Stealers, You'd get them on the board from the beginning, and have them be a threat from the start instead of relying on Reserve rolls!
"The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all biomatter consumed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be devoured."
this should work out to be a fun list, then...
uzi, if you haven't seen it already, I've posted my non-DS list in the forum for your perusal... and sorry to make such a big deal about my little club "situation"
I'd go with the approach that you have a 'nid army, but you'd give anyone a challenging game with a seeding swarm fight. I do believe that S.swarms have a high strategy rating. Use that with Tommy Tough-nuts to gamble. If you win, follow the advice of the chapter approved, and be the attacker on a Battle senerio. It would only be fair.
As for your question, yes, a WON squad can always deepstrike, even if not allowed by the mission. As long as you either lose your squad or simply pull them back, you could have a fresh squad of stealers every turn!!!
no guy can tell you what you allowed to do with scenarios...they are supposed to be randomly chosen or agreed upon...not dictated by some ignorant fool
a punch in his teeth might just be appropriate (but maybe not helpful)...all you have to do really is beat him consistantly...how can he be a big majour player if he cant win?
Never judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes...by that time they'll be a mile away, and have no shoes
Who is this IG player? does he own the gaming club? If not why is he making up the rules? does he own all the tables? Surely it is up to the opponent whether or not they want to play against you and what scenario selection rules they choose!not some power mad power gaming a$$ hole!

he insists that everyone uses the random scenario generation table in CA2002, (even though the seeding swarm scenario rules are in CA2003... he claims CA's don't overwrite each other) which does not include any battle missions... this nerfs my deepstriking ability, and negates my strategy dice... I think the whole club kind of sides with him, since I have yet to see an army that isn't tau, necrons, IG, or some shooty varient of spacewolves. I suspect that the only way people there like to play bugs is on their own terms... most games consist of tau vs tau or IG vs IG/SMurfs, where they trade shots the whole time
...for what it's worth, everyone except him is still pretty friendly, and this guy isn't too popular there
Yeah probably some lame house rule.. I get that at my gaming club cause I use rules as they are printed not how people want them to be heh
Anyway the random generator for missions IS pretty cool.. I suggest using it if you want to get used to making a well balanced army and playing different scenarios other than the ones you specifically design your army for.. My army has gotten much better due to that
But as for some ***** guy, screw him.. Play by what the rules say and if he doesnt wanna play find someone else
Edit - nice bad word filter.. Assuming we were all 4 years old ha.. Thats not even remotely a "bad" word, but whatever
Dont let that guy get to you. Play with the rules your army allows you to play them. If he refuses then you just avoided an hour of play with a sore loser or winner if he is like that too.
I do agree make a balence list to take any mission. It is alot funner then playing the same lame missions just because you cant win at anything else. Besides that you probably spent alot of money on your nids and it is a shame to not enjoy your models just because he is an ass. Thats basically it.
