A friend and I are entering into an apoc tournament fairly soon and well there are some differences between what is a scoring unit in apoc and in the rule book. What counts as a scoring unit in apoc???
Apocalypse was written with 4th edition rules in mind. At that time, I believe almost all units over 50% strength (with a few exceptions) count as scoring units. But when Apocalypse Reload came out, it gives you 3 options:
1) Play it like 5th edition where only Troop choices count as scoring.
2) Play it like 4th edition still.
3) Make up your own custom rules regarding what is a scoring unit ("house rule it").
Most people now plays it just like 5th edition rules.
First off, just as an opinion, I wouldn't recommend an apocalypse tournament unless you have inordinate amounts of money to spend on Forgeworld, or you like getting lopsidedly spanked by a guy with a Reaver titan who thinks a vortex missile is totally balanced.
To your question though, you'll have to ask the organizer. As Jy2 pointed out, the rules were written in fourth and a number of things don't quite jive with the 5th edition rules, and it all comes down to house-ruling anyway.
Thanks guys for the advice and input, my friend and I (and a bunch of others) wanted to build our armies to at least 3000 points to hold our own apoc games, this tournament just happens to be around the time we're starting to expand and the entrance fee is only 20 bucks... Plus we live in Canada, less chance of a Reaver Titan showing up (I hope)
