I'd like to roll with the Blood Angels one day so I've been checking their rules, unless GW is going to cut them loose. :-/ But my question is are the Blood Angels scouts... not scouts? They don't have the Scout or Infiltrate special rules, but I notice they are a bit tougher and geared to have chainswords for free, just like their Assault-y big brothers.
Is this an oversight or the balance when they were made more expensive elites? Thanks!
They do have infiltrate. Make sure you're looking at the latest PDF from the GW web site. There are tons of errors in the assorted White Dwarf versions and the first PDF. They don't have Scout simply because they're old. No scouts actually had the Scout rule in the previous edition.
Ah ok, I made sure to get the new 5th Ed version and I see the Infiltrate ability. Since I'm not familiar with the old edition, plainly speaking they do not get the Scout rule? Not that it seems that bad, since with Infiltrate you can place anywhere, you just can't come in from reserves using a dedicated transport (in this case a drop pod).
Sorry I just like to get particular, especially about an army that is behind the times and you can't have rules from new codexes work retroactively.
Which I like the flavor that way, kinda fluffy in a way. The scouts are being trained as future assault squads, not tactical marines, so they're tougher and slightly discouraged to take ranged weapons (points compared to vanilla), they can take chainswords for free, instead of lame combat swords (not that they are different in TT), and no camo cloaks.
I think I need to start a whole Blood Angels Q&A section in the Space Marine forums because I have soooo many questions about them and their rules as compared to Smurfs.
