if i was attacked by 1 person who caused 6 wounds and i had 5 normal guyz and a hero who joined the squad with 1 wound left would the whole squad be killed or would the hero be left standing
If he joined the squad, you have to allocate wounds to him as well.
Being that there are 6 total wounds in the unit (5 from the regular guys, 1 from the hero), you'd have to give one to each, killing everyone.
Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
Necrons : W-8 D-3 L-7 (Sleeping in their TombFoam, waiting for a new codex)
Chaos Forces (CSM/CD): W-42 D-19 L-28
Apocalypse Games : W-4 D-0 L-1 (4 Titans, Brass Scorp, 3 Baneblades, 2 Bombers, 3 Fighters, and a Partrage in a Pear Tree)
In the normal case of an IC who joined the squad, he'd be 'safe' if no one allocated attacks against him. If it were an instance of the increasingly rare 'true retinue' he would eat the wound.
Need to concur with IA.
An IC who has joined the squad, is a separate unit when in close combat. The Attacking individual would have to choose attacking the IC or the other unit (squad), prior to roll to hit. Then 6 wounds are delivered to the unit of of his choice. For this example choosing the unit of 5, then the extra wound is lost.
As has been said, if he's a regular IC he's safe, if he's in an IC in a retinue he's not. Also, if this 'hero' was an upgrade character (instead of an IC) such as a sergeant or Telion, then he would count as being part of the unit and would take the hit.
