    Drop Pod Attacks!

I am a huge fan of Drop Pod's, getting into position, blocking line of fire, sneak attacks etc. I was recently pouring over the rules and found that Deep Striking Drop Pod's count as having moved at cruising speed(pg. 95).

Now since they are classified as vehicles that means they can't shoot the turn they come into play right? since they moved at cruising speed?

yes. lucky for them, inside the drop pod are more juicy fire magnets. I am stil remembering 2 venerable dreads that invaded my assault squads and butchered them

You are correct, the pod cannot fire its weapon the turn it arrives.

As for meltas falling from the sky....you basically have to cross your fingers the turn they come down. Should your vehicle survive the onslaught.....fly to safety!

As for me,being eldar, my wave serpeants i risk by turning the rear against terrain, so my energy sheild negates 2d6, but for my prisms and the like int he back, its usually bad news bears.

MOST drop pods cannot shoot on the turn they arrive. Black Templar (and maybe other chapters) have drop pods with Power of the Machine Spirit. This allows them to fire their weapon at BS2. Needless to say, the Deathwind is a much better option in this case.

The Deathwind is always a much better option. Without exception.

Is the deathwind pod a regular pod with the upgrade weapon or is it a different pod all together?

No, it's just a regular pod with the Deathwind Launcher upgrade.
