Firstly has there been an official update to this by GW(for combat patrol rulse to be used in 5th ed)?
If not, are there any decent fan made rules for this? The basics are there, but it seems to break down on the patrol commander part, with no clear definition on what occurs if the patrol commander is killed, etc, etc.
While I have only read but have not tried the Fire Fight 40k rules from Dice Like Thunder, they were made specifically for 5th edition:
Dice Like Thunder
I have enjoyed their alternate mission types for standard 40k games, so I think their squad-level Fire Fight rules might play good as well.
But that has nothing to do with combat patrol?
Other than being small-point squad-level rules, probably not.
GW has not redone the rules for Combat Patrol, but the rules are relatively simple and should carry over well enough to 5th edition; the differences between 4th and 5th are minor enough that I don't see any huge issues with using the regular CP rules from 4th edition, with only minor tweaking as issues come up.
Thought there was a white dwarf update involving the addition of a patrol commander and the patrol taking LD tests on 50% casaulties.
Its the ones here i was referring to actually.
As far as i can tell once the patrol takes 50% casaulties you take a LD test each turn on the commander's LD, if you fail you lose.
50% Casualties forcing a Leadership or lose test...? sounds very much like the "Bottle Test" from Necromunda
I have too many armies to list in my signature!
those rules looks almost exactly the same as the ones i have with the addition of the 50% casualty rule
edit: no that is the same one i have, we just glossed over that rule!
