Im not sure if this should go here or in the moddeling section, but I would like to build a group or two of killa kans as i really cant afford to buy to many models. Are there "Set"rules for scratch built models, i know there are rules for what you can and cant take in tournies ((scratch built wise) but does anyone have any ideas, opinions or answers?
Obviously they qould have to be about the same size and look somewhat like killa kans, follow the codex weapon choices etc, but im not sure....
The only set rule I know of for custom models for tournaments, is that 50% or more of the model has to be official GW or Citadel model pieces. As for KillaKans you do have a bit more room to maneuver, as you can use an Ork boy as a Pilot, and just rework the arms and main body a bit.
Best suggestion would be to check with the tournament organizers before hand. Most small shop tournies, if the model has had a lot of work in it, they usually let it slide. More official tournaments, will probably deny a less than 50% GW model to be played.
Yhea, 50% is what I know of. Still, that's just doubled your model count or half your cost whichever way you want to look at it.
I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand
Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.
Thanks for that, ill keep it in mind.
I will go ahead and make them, starting this week..(hopefully)
Does this apply to looted wagons and\or scratchbuilt tanks?
I asked about tournies coz my mate ca be really tight about these things and im hoping sometime down the road to play in some local tournies.
Sorry for asking noobie questions........
The convention that I have seen is that the model must ‘start’ out as a citadel miniature and contain at least 50% citadel parts.
This tells me that I must have a Killer Kan to start with (and not simply start out by making a walking garbage can with a buzz saw attached to it) and proceed to change up to 50% of it to suit my tastes.
But really, it’s up to the tournament organizer and as long as its obvious as to what that model is and the opponent doesn’t object then I can’t see a problem if you don’t start out with an official Kan.
In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
I've always seen that 50% rule only there to prevent you from fielding a full army of Reaper models and whatnot.
That rule also states that you can use as much greenstuff as you want, so just pile on t he greenstuff for the thing and say its 100% greenstuff!
Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
