I've just started a warhammer club at my school & GW sent me a school club starter kit, which I am very greatful for. Most of the kids are 40K players (a shame as I've only player fantasy) so I am not very familiar with the rules.
In the starter pack was rules for something called school league which is supposed to be playable incl set up etc in 45mins. My questions are:
1. is it possible to set up and play a 600pt 40K game in 45mins?
2. the army rules state 600pts, min 1HQ & 2 troops, max 1 elite & 1 fast or support unit. Do most players go for a few larger units or lots of small ones to deny table quarters & maximise on objective defence and threats?
That sounds awesome. I didn't know GW offered that kind of package. To your questions:
1/ It is indeed possible, though I would say it requires some experience and sound knowledge of the rules to pull that off. As well as a bit of "pace" in the way you play. Don't expect it to take 45 minutes the first couple of times. There is usually a lot of checking codexes and rules the first times you play. Off the top of my head, I would recommend you set aside 2 hours.
2/ Hard to say generally. I would probably try to maximize the amount of bodies per squad from experience, but I guess some would go for a lot of units. Varies a lot depending on armies to of course.
