Imperial guard: orders during night fighting rule

Some IG orders (e.g. bring it down!) say "a unit visible to the officer".

During a game using dawn of war deployment, let's say my opponent's troops choice is a unit in a transport. I want to issue "bring it down!" on a squad of 20 guardsmen and target the transport. Do I first have to take a night fighting test for the officer's unit to check if he sees it, or do I only roll the test for the unit that will actually be firing at the transport?

Only for the unit firing at the enemy.

The officer only needs to see the enemy unit for the "fire on my target" order, where it specifically states that the officer has to be able to see the enemy unit.
