Just to make sure I'm reading the Deep Strike rule in 4th edition right, it seems the use of the ordnance template has been done away with. Does this mean there's theoretically no limit to the number of units you can deep strike, given enough free space?
Well, they imposed a nice little limit on how close to enemies/table edges for deepstriking - the circle thing. And most units with DSing abilities aren't exactly huge, something like 10-15 models tops right?
There never was a limit to the number of UNITs you could DS, as long as they had the ability. The limit was to the number of troops in one unit that could fit into a DS target area (the template) but even that was done away with in later updates. Each unit plopped down its own template.
As to your question, yes they have done away with the use of a template but there is a limit in certain circumstances. You still loose models from large units if they can't fit in the circle(s) without coming within 1" or ending up on impassable terrain.
i read the rulebook and have two questions about deep striking...
1) for the "rings" of models steadily increasing in size and going away from the centre, what is the distance between these rings?
2) Does the '2" scatter' rule still apply? if this is mentioned in the rulebook, please just tell me to look in the rulebook. I am away for the weekend and havent brought it with me...
Necron will stand for eternity.Their race has survived aeons by trading their very souls for metal bodies. Now, they will live on through eternity and will vanquish all life from our universe. For they are Necron. Flesh is weak. The machine will rise!
I think he means snake eyes plus a hit on the scatter die resulting in the unit being lost.

To be perfectly honest, I can't find any mention of Lost to the Warp in the new BBB. I guess they did away with it. Maybe the Imperium's been hard at work warp-proofing it's teleporters ^_^
Yes, that's right! You can't get lost in the warp by rollig snake eyes anymore. Tzguuuud!Originally posted by mEGALOMANIAC@Sep 20 2004, 21:35
