So, I've been kind of drifting along warhammer 40k for a couple years now. Always really liked it but no one i knew played it so i was kind of stuck. Well, now some of my buddies are interested and my wife is willing to give it a shot. I was wanting to know if there were any good resources for like a cliff notes version of the rules, something that she could read relatively quickly and determine if the game is for her or not, instead of wasting all the time reading the full rules and then deciding it isn't.
I can sum up a lot of the rules for her but I'm still pretty new myself so I'd like her to learn the rules so we can keep each other in check.
Thanks for any suggestions.
The closest thing I can think of is the rulebook that comes in the Assault on Black Reach boxed set, it's much smaller than the hardcover rule book (just over 100 pages) and sums up the rules quite nicely.

Take her to a games workshop to try a starter session? or if that isn't going to work, just play a few games, using proxies if you don't have enough models... being taught is better than reading the rules IMO, both is even better.
After a few games they should probably have a good idea of whether they want to continue or not.
