hi im new to warhammer. i want to play csm's. im thinking of going black legion or iron warriors. anyway, my friend who got me into this game talked me into getting a box of khorne berzerkers and on a seperate occasion into getting a box of night lords. can i use these two types of csms together, in the same army? and do i have enough stuff to play a game? all of my troops include 8 night lord troops, 12 berzerkers, 5 chaos terminators, 1 bike, 2 heavy support troops. i now know where i went wrong in the just buying stufff with out thinking. defineately need to buy codexes, . i dont talk to the friend, havent in about half a year, just recently decided to get into this, ive watched a few small games at a local store, im totaly diggin it. another quick one, in about half a month i get paid im planning on spending about 1 to 2 hundred on warhammer stuff, what should i get?!
A pure Night lord army cannot have berzerkers, so you cannot combine them. However if you just take a standard undivided list, not taking the benefits of night lords, you can have both together. The berzerkers will be elite not troops though.
So for a legal army you will need another troops choice. Three choices, get basic chaos space marines and use the night lords as marines and berzerkers for elites.
Get more berzerkers for a pure World Eaters army, you won't be able to use night lords though.
Get more night lords for pure night lord army, you wont be able to use berzerkers though.
Also you need an HQ choice for the army to be legal, either a leutenant (for small games) or a chaos lord, or daemon prince for larger games. Bikes need more than one model for a unit too.
With your money, get the codex and the rulebook first. That will be a fair dent. Read them and decide which option I suggested that you like, then get the troop and HQ choice for small battles. After that it is personal opinion for your playing style and unit preferance, read the rules in the chaos codex and plan around 2000 point, a standard game, and try to buy that army.
Of course you will need super glue, file, clippers and paint for constructing the models. I'm not sure how much of that stuff you have already though.
Strewart neglected to mention that you could take a Khornate lord in an undivided army. This would allow you to use both the Night Lords and the Berzerkers filling troops slots, although you won't get the benefits of either a pure Night Lords or a pure World Eaters (Khorne Berzerkers) army. So, yeah, pick up the codex, look at your options and find something that fits your style.
thank you and good night
after you got the codex and rulebook you should also decide which specific chaos legion you want to play
thanks alot folks.
im thinkin undivided.
i figure i can use the berzerkers as assault style troops and the night lords like regular marines.
too bad i already put the bitchin lookin shoulder pad things on the night lords with their sign on it. ill probably have to take those off.
im soo stoked about playin this game. i can seriously spend about 50-100 a month so im defineately gunna pick up a new army in january.
i like strategy games and minatures are bitchin!
gotta wait till the 15th, gettin paid once a month sucks.
as far as an hq choice i think abaddon is awesome, mostly because me and my guitar player were throwing the name around before i ever looked into this game about a year ago. all hail lord abaddon. but i have no idea what is good, im sure after i start playin ill figure it out real quick. thanks alot.
Yeah Abaddon is very good, also quite expensive. (points wise)
Anyway, for the night lords I don't think you will need to remove the shoulder pads. They are simply undivided chaos space marines with night lord uniforms.
