I am a new member of this forum and I need everyone's help!!!
My boyfriend really likes to play Warhammer 40k, but has a lack of people to play it with, after moving to a new city.
So as a surprise I am learning everything about this game, to play it with him.
I know nothing.
What are they rules, How can I learn and Anything that is really important to know please tell me!

In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
The place to start would first have a look at the armies available and see witch one you like, the most important thing when choosing your new army is what sounds like the most fun to you.
From there you'll need the 'Big Red Book' (the 40k main rule book) and the Codex for the army of your choice.
Then you need to start looking at models, a good place to start is a battle force box set. They have a good starter army you can build on later and are decent value for money. Battle force box sets are available for most of the armys available.
Hope you enjoy 40k, have fun.
Your boyfriend should have the rulebook and any codex for the army/ ies he uses. I would suggest that you read the rulebook as it has a section that gives a basic back ground for the races in 40K the play with the one you like the look of. I have found a lot of ladies who get into 40K tend to go for either Sisters of Battle or Space Marines, granted no satistics or anything like that just an observation.
Enjoy the game its good. Also find the local hobby stores and they should get y'all in touch with any local clubs?
2) Read some of the army books/stories to see which army suits your tastes.
3) Practice building some lists and post them here for feedback. It sucks if you end up buying a lot of models that you'll never use because they don't preform well in game
4) Have fun and enjoy the game.
