In a recent game we had the following situation occur in a multiple combat. Just checking to see if we played it right.
This was Daemons v Chaos Marines battle.
Keeper of Secrets in B2B contact with 3-4 Plague Marines, who in turn where in B2B contact with Soul Grinder, who in turn B2B contact with 10 Chaos Terminators.
CSM lose combat by 6. Plague Marines are fearless and so take no retreat wounds with FNP, and fail them all and are eliminated.
Terminators are not fearless and so take Initiative test v both Soul Grinder and KOS. Neither are locked in combat anymore so they are free to sweep. Needless to say no one escapes the KOS in sweeping I10 advance and all the Terminators are swept.
The only doubt is the order in which order (if any) combat resolution is applied. Had the Terminators gone first they would have broken off, and could not be swept because the KOS and SG were locked in combat with the plague Marines, or is this a simultaneous action?
In the situation you're describing the KOS could not have performed a sweeping advance against the Terms.Since the KOS was not engaged with the Termies it may not sweep them.Originally Posted by rulebook pg. 41 under assault results
As to your question about order, the way it's worded in the rulebook, no retreat wounds are taken in place of the morale check for losing combat so would occur before sweeping advance rolls. The order listed in the rulebook is:
-Determine Assault Results
-Check Morale (which includes no retreat wounds)
So aside from the error I pointed out above, yes, you did play it correctly.

The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. Bring them understanding of the power of ourselves through our strength and their fear. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all fragments will be smashed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be consumed
Thanks for that probably will not come up again, but at least we know. Nice and clear cut for a change.
