Autarch Varrais here
I've got a question I was playing a game against my friend the other day and we ran into a bit of a problem
"Can a flamer ignore the cover save of a fast skimmer tank moving flat out?"
Common sense says no, but we couldn't find anything in the rulebook against it.
Do I get my cover save?

Burn baby burn!
No cover saves from flamers, I checked but couldn't find any exceptions for particular types of cover saves.
In the 41st millenium there is no such thing as paranoia, the universe realy is out to get you!
+1 to Skydog.
Yup you get no cover saves vs template weapons (rules p29). Although upon closer reading it does state the cover saves are ignored when resolving wounds. Since you can't wound a vehicle...
I would say there should be no cover saves allowed regardless of being a vehicle or not.
But a rules lawyer could argue that vehicles would indeed get their cover save.
At the beginning of turn 1, I spray my opponent's army with the bacon flavored spray. Then I unleash my Boston Terrier Squiggoth who then devours their entire bacon flavored army! There is no defense against her cuteness! All are doomed!
Simple common sense rules here... How are you going to get cover from a jet of burning fuel across the path of your speeding vehicle, you'll be too fast to avoid it and not quick enough to get through unscathed so... nope, no cover save, now had it been invuln then.... But then you would've griped about a psykannon shot too I s'pose.
I am sorry if I didn't explain myself
Isn't the whole point of the cover save that because your vehicle is moving so fast that it extreamly difficult to target?
so wouldn't that mean that the flamer might miss the vehicle altogther?
Proof of point: Hydras (Imperial Guard Codex) have an auto targeting system that locks onto vehicles (and stays locked on when it moves) so the vehicle dosn't get a cover save for moving flat out.
I mean this is just my opinion feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

For common sense you are right but it could be argued both ways.
People love flamers as they are deadly to T3 models who count on cover saves to stay alive as they tend to have bad armour saves.
I look at it that a flamer doesn't need to hit as it could be fired before the fast vehical gets there and just keep going untill the vehicqal flies through it, doing it late enough so that the fast vehical doesn't have the 100 metres it needs to turn at that speed.
there are tons of things in 40K that don't make sense in the real world but are the rules when it comes to movement, shooting, saves...
Tau: 6K - W17-D3-L4, Orks: 4K - W9-D0-L2, SM: 7K - W7-D3-L4,CSM: 4K W5-D1-L1, Nids: 3.2K W3-D0-L2
Apoc games (mixture of armies used): W5-D0-L1
Amen to that bro'. You explained my point better than I did, in reality you should not get any save from any kind of machine gun, or flamer, as you just fill the sky in front of the thing with hot stuff (lead or promethium it matters not) and the sucker flies into it, which is what happens IRL with Ack Ack and aircraft.
