My group have recently begun using roads as part of our terrain and while we were playing I had a thought.
Since vehicles moving on roads can move up to 18 inches, do the get a cover save when moving flat out?
We have been playing as if they do but I noticed that the section detailing the cover save for moving 18" or more was in the skimmer section and says
'...if a skimmer moves more than 18" they gain a 4+ cover save.'
Do normal tanks such as Rhinos and Razorbacks also gain this 4+ cover save or does it only stand for Skimmers?
As it stands, the vehicle has to fulfill two conditions to gain a flat-out cover save (without their own special rule):
1) Move OVER 18 inches in a single movement phase
2) Be a skimmer
So no, it doesn't work for Rhinos/etc, nor non-fast Skimmers
"The sergeant major asked me what my job is. I told him it's to do what I am told. He gave me a medal. I like the Imperial Guard."
"Innocentia Probat Nihil"
So thus moving any distance over 12" grants a fast skimmer a cover save.

The fact now that I don't have to move 18 inches to get a cover save will make my life much easier when manouvering round the board, up till now when I made my skimmers move more than 12" I made sure to move them 18" to get a cover save so their was less chance of them getting wrecked. So thank you very much for pointing that little gem out, its much appreciated.
Also thanks for answering my original question guys!
1 to 6 inches = 4 to hit in CC
7 inches and above = 6 to hit in cc
any vehicles going 13 inches or higher 4+ cover save.

Q: Does a vehicle that has used its extra move for being on a road to move over 12” count as having moved at cruising speed for all purposes, for example the embarking and disembarking of troops? (p57)
