Just wondering about the saves that are available for the wounds caused by the death of a tervigon to surrounding gaunt squads. In the unit listing for "brood progenitor" under a tervigon's statistics in the tyranid codex the wounds caused by the death of a tervigon to surrounding gaunt squads is 3D6 S3 AP- hits. Since the hits are listed as S3 AP-, it would suggest that they are somewhat like a shooting attack (a psychic shock to the surrounding broods from the tervigon, being a synaptic conduit I would assume).
If this is the case, would you be able to use the 5+ cover save from a nearby venomthrope squad or would you be making your saves at the normal 6+ armour of the gaunts?
The AP- is simply to specify that you get your armor save. However, there is no point of origin, and it is not specified as a shooting attack, so no cover saves are available.
"The sergeant major asked me what my job is. I told him it's to do what I am told. He gave me a medal. I like the Imperial Guard."
"Innocentia Probat Nihil"
It just seems strange that they would word it like that, as with most other special rules, they would word it as "each termagaunt brood within 6" of the tervigon when it is destroyed takes 3D6 S3 hits. Armour saves may be taken against wounds caused by this effect".
It's GW being vague as usual but you will have to use their base armour save, so if it's 6+ then you need 6s.
