So if my Tervigon dies and is within 6 inches of my enemies brood of Termagaunts do they have to take hits as well as my own? The book simply says 'All units of termagants, spawned or otherwise' and doesn't specify friendly or enemy which would lead me to believe that this is indeed the case. But the same paragraph also says they gain the benefits of the Tervigon's toxin sacs and adrenal glands so would my opponent also get both those upgrades for being within 6 inches of my Tervigon?
Or am I missing some universal rule that says my opponents cant benefit from my rules or something?
In terms of common sense, which makes little sense in a wargame sure, them getting upgrades 'feels' wrong but them dying in a way feels 'right' but according to RAW I have no idea?
Thoughts? And apologies if this has been asked before but I couldn't find it anywhere.
In short, no your opponent does not ever benefit from your rules unless specified. Here is the official ruling on that from the main rulebook faq on the gw site.
Q: Am I able to gain the benefits of any of my
opponent’s wargear or special rules, such as Teleport
Homers, Chaos Icons, Tyranid Synapse, Necron
Resurrection Orbs etc?
A: In most occasions this is clear, as the rules use the
words ‘friendly’ or ‘own’ to indicate your units, and
‘enemy’ for the opponent’s. On the other hand, some
rules clearly specify that they affect ‘friend and foe’. A
few rules are, however, slightly ambiguous as they
don’t clearly specify this distinction. As a general
principle, we recommend that you cannot use or gain
the benefits from any of the wargear or special rules of
your opponent’s army, unless specifically stated in the
rule itself (‘friend or foe’) or in an official FAQ.
Warhammer 40k: Blood Angels, Imperial Guard, Grey Knights, Space Lizards (wolves), Kroot, Witch Hunters, Dark Eldar
Warhammer: Lizardmen, Empire, Vampire Counts, Brettonians, High Elves, Skaven
Clears that one up. Thanks!
