Apocalypse: D-Strength Weapons and Wave Serpents

Okay you all know about the Wave serpents shields yes? Any weapon that shoots at the front or side of a Wave Serpent that has a S higher than 8 is counted as 8. So S9 and S10 weapons are resolved as S8 for armour penetration.
In apocalypse they have Destroyer weapons which are represented a SD in the weapons profile. D-Strength weapons automatically penetrate armour, no need to roll armour penetration.

So my question is this, does SD get down graded to S8 or does the fact that D-Strength weapons score auto-pens over-rule the Wave Serpents energy shield?

I was thinking about and basically when you look at it the Strength chart would look something like this

S1 S2 S3 S4 S5 S6 S7 S8 S9 S10 SD

but SD could basically be any S value over 14 but since the highest S value you can have is S10 is the fact its represented as SD just for simplicitys sake or is it just a special rule for weapons that don't have a particular S value like a poison or sniper gun that are represented by SX?

Without evidence, my assumption would be that as 'D' isn't specifically a higher number than 8, therefore it can't come down to 8. Its obviously an algebraic value, and SX weapons wouldn't be modified to S8 by a wave serpent, so following that logic surely it remains as SD as normal?

Its a good question though, interesting to see if anyone can dig up some evidence on it?

Although snipers are classed as S3 when it comes to armour pen. So are given a S value in that case.

According to the apoc book page 96 'D' is a designation, not a strength:
"If a weapon has a D instead of a Strength value in its profile, it means it is a destroyer"

It's neither higher nor lower, it's just not applicable.

My take is that it's so darn powerful it would overpower even a void shield, so bye bye Wave Serpent.

Although the void shield itself would take the blow and negate the attack. But yeah this does makes sense, I just wanted other peoples opinions on it. I'll just hope to make it a glancing by moving flat out and passing my cover save.

Yup, the rule doesn't apply to anything that doesn't have a strength value.

Strength D weapons would still auto penetrate.
I think you answered your own question in your original post,

Like you said Stength D weapons dont roll for penetration and the wave serpent rule affects the armour penetration roll.
