I can't remember the Librarian's strength, but let's just say it's 5 for this post's sake. So if he faces off with a Nightbringer, causes a wound and passes the psychic test (which is maddenly easy to pass, 1 in 18 chance of failure), does that mean the 5 wound Nightbringer will die right there?
C'Tan only takes 1 wound from weapons that cause instant death.. Anything you can think to kill the C'Tan quickly have already been thought of
Yes, it is that powerful in hand to hand.. The nightbringer anyway
I know the Necron codex says that Wraithcannons can only cause one wound, but is there direct rules that state all instant kill weapons can only cause one wound?
yeah sigh, im off my game I guess.. It does instant kill c'tan for some reason sorry. Works similar to wraith cannon fluff but yes it does instant kill them heh
I really don't think it should, fluffwise and gameplay wise (If khorne which is relatively young can protect itself from a force weapon why can't an incredibly ancient evil do the same?) but until GW sees fit to erratta it then we're stuck with instant death.
Oh cry me a river....Not only will the c'tan almost certainly kill the librarian before he gets a chance to attack, but the librarian would need a 6 to wound the c'tan who would then also get his 4+ invulnerable save. So who is really screwed here?
The enemies of the Emperor fear many things. They fear discovery, defeat, despair and death. Yet there is one thing they fear above all others. They fear the wrath of the Space Marines!
It does intstant kill, but the librarian cannot harm it (str 4) unless of course you furious charge but still its unlikely to harm it, you need a six (as previously stated).
Also the nightbringer still gets his invunerable save... chance of wounding arent exactly that great!
So therefore it makes perfecft sense gamewise IMO.
Also fluffwise it makes perfect sense, bearing in kind the force weapon utilise the psychic power of the librarian to cause instant kill and the c'tan hate the warp it would make senses that a force weapon would instant kill.

i know some people might get annoyed with me going on about grey knights but a grey knight grandmaster counts as hving a force weapon S 10 and better weapon skill than most space marines(i hate people like logan grimnar!!!.
grandmaster would sort a c'tan out(especially if c'tan count as daemons). :diespam: :diespam:

Erm nowhere in the codex does a GK master have a S10 weapon!
GKs have strength 4+2 for Nemesis Force Weapons = 6.
Moving on, force weapons can kill a C'tan instantly, but a SM librarian cannot hurt one normally. (Unless you get the charge W/furious charge). Gk Grandmaster stands a much better chance. S6 with more than a few attacks, invulnerable save and psychic test on LD10.
Unless I had a GK Grandmaster....I just wouldnt assault one though.
let us not forget that the librarian is initiative 4. El Decievo is Initiative 5, and also str 8 (to the librarians toughness 4, which means instant death on 1 wound), and ignores all saves what so ever. If El Decievo assaults a librarian, it is highly unlikely that the librarian will get to attack back (unless you fail *all* 5 rolls that need a 3 to hit and a 2 to wound).
Also, if your not in b2b with the librarian, he cannot fight in that round, and using the misdirect ability, you can control who and when you fight in CC.
As for the nightbringer, hope he doesn't land one on you during a charge (same initiative). It is possible, but not likely
Either way tho, the librarian would need something to increase his str to 5 or more. str 4 can't do anything to a c'tan.
