I don't see anywhere that says they can't. Granted they do not have a transport option in the assault marine section but drop pods are not mentioned in the other transport options in say tactical squads.
Pods are ment to be a means to dump units off thunderhawks into battle, so what if these marines have 2 CCW instead of a bolter.
Drop pods state that 10 space marines, 1 dred etc... can have pods, so is this legal?
...and you will know my name is the lord, when I strike down my vengence upon thee...
First, Drop pods are launched by frigates from space. Assault Marines Jump out of thunderhawks using their jump packs.
Technically yes, they are alloud as "any space marine in power armor, terminator armor or dreadnought may use a...". Since they wear power armor, yes they are alloud.
Mentor of Space Marine Commanders far and wide.
Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
No there are not 'allowed' .. It doesnt matter if nothing says they cant, once again, it only matters if it says they CAN.There is no such quote in the codex. That is the old drop pod rule which no longer exists and cannot be used. The new drop pod rule says which units may drop pod, and that includes pretty much every unit that has a transport option. Assault squads have no transport option and thus may not take a transport (Drop pod)Technically yes, they are alloud as "any space marine in power armor, terminator armor or dreadnought may use a...". Since they wear power armor, yes they are alloud.
You could try using a veteran squad. They have bolt pistols and ccw. Or use one of the new traits that allows tactical squads to have bolt pistols and ccw.
