The new space marine codex lists assault cannons as Heavy 4, Rending. The DH codex shows them as Heavy 3. If I am using a DH army, which value shoud I be using ? What about a DH/SM combined force ? Should they be different at all ?

    Any opionions/help appreciated.

use the marine codex for assault cannon stats, landraider stats etc. it makes sense, both weapons are the same and GW have said somewhere (sorry, don't remember where) that you should.

in this case, the rules in the SM codex take priority over the DH codex.

also the SM codex is the new one with the new rules for weapons and stuff like that, you should usually always go for the new official stuff

That was something I was wondering about as well - do all Imperial armies use the new definitions on wargear as well? I know we use the new LRC and Assault Cannon rules, but what about Bionics or Teleport Homers? I assume we do, but I'm just seeking clarification since there isn't a post-new-SM-codex FAQ for Daemonhunters.

i've been thinking this over ever since the new codex came out and according to the guys at the local games workshop the new marine codex is basicly for ultramarines and the "do it yourself" armies and the older codexs take precedence over the new rules so i guess until they bring out a new codex for the other chapters they wont get any of the new wargear, that includes the heavy 4 rending from the AC, the only chapters noted in the new codex are Imperial/crimson fists, ravenguard, salamanders, white scars, iron hands and blood ravens all the others should use their old codex, well thats from what i have worked out with the locals

I would use the rules in the space marine codex for the equipment including the assault cannon. The Best change is the thunder hammer BGB states that models wounded by a Thunder hammer count as initative one in the next round of combat but the new SM codex states that a model wounded by a thunder hammer stikes after initiative one models in combat.

Any items which have the SAME name are updated with the SM codex, this includes... anything with the same name

bionics, assault cannon, narthecium (IG version as well - its the same item, read before disagreeing), teleport homer, etc
