I played a IW guy the last weekend, and he used a basilisk,
and he had indirect fire, but i wonder, can he switch to
direct fire and shoot at me when i was under 24" from him?
he said he could and killed of my hq and a sarge with it
i wonder whats the point with the minimum range of 24
if he can shoot me when im under it?
yes you can, though the minimum range is 24+12, not 24.
hmm but what the h'll do you need the minimum range for?
So the tank cant be one side of a wall and indirect fire at the other side.Originally posted by Dias@Jan 30 2005, 15:33

ooh well, thx ..
If I understand your question then this should help.
Indirect fire is 36 min
direct fire is 1 inch
So he could move the basilisk 6 inches and fire direct. Or just sit there and fire 36 to 72 indirect. But of course he has to pay for the indrect fire. Basilisk come with direct you pay some pts for indirect. I hope that answer your question.
I'll add to that, be certain that they have paid for the indirect fire upgrade as it is one of the often "forgotten" upgrades, has happened to me in tournaments around 5 times. The funniest time was when I approached this basilisk that was on the other side of a building with a lot of meltagun bearing dominions, so he says he's shooting at them. I pointed out that it was within 36'' and the guy said "but I don't have indirect fire!". He had shot his basilisk across the board 3 times before that, failing to kill anything. In hindsight that was a good thing or I would have become really angry.
