In addition to the basic guidelines Knape97 laid out...
If You don't understand it on the first, read the book again a couple of times!
In addition, go to Your local GW store (not necessarily official GW, most stockists tend to have gaming tables) and ask to play a couple of demonstration games.. That should help You understand the basics.
It will also help if You make a short list of the things that confuse You, so that You can ask about them before/during/after the demo game.
After this, if You have any specific rules which would be confusing, we will try to do our best to help You further! (Y)
"The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all biomatter consumed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be devoured."
Along with what uzi said, at my GW they have a mega battle every sunday @ 120p. All the new players get a squad of troops (or a dread, or whatever), and they hash it out (1/2 good vs. 1/2 evil) while learning the rules. I wouldn't be surprised if your local gw did the same thing. Check it out (thats how I got started)
Wednesday nights at GW (Ontario Mills in Ontario, CA)
