Is it required to model extra armor using the WYSIWYG rules? I have yet to see anything better than mods using lego's... not that my experience is extensive mind you.
Wednesday nights at GW (Ontario Mills in Ontario, CA)
4-7-05 - SoB 1200, S&D Omega, Opponent was new.
4-7-05 - ME! Chris beats me again with his space wolves (he is a good palyer without his eldar).
Well the question is must extra armor be modelled... forgeworld is not official gear so the fact they have it doesn't answer the question, but thanks for the link... they do look nice!Originally Posted by justinb67
it's better if you do show it, but it's such a common upgrade, that if you just say it's internal, or that your tank is made of thougher metal, it's useualy fine. If you plan to take it to a tourny, you will need to show it.

If your playing against anyone other than your friends in a meaningless game, then yet Extra Armour must be modelled. Myself I took spare plastic sheets, bits of track etc and attached them to my vehicles to represent it.
Yes it should be modelled in things apart from frag grenades, usually done by glueing pieces of track and unused vehicle bitz onto it. However I don't believe you have to do it as the Land Raider Crusader automatically gets the upgrade, but it doesn't come with any sort of extra armor.

Rules for grenades are on page 72 of the rulebook.
Not everything has to be WYSIWYG fyi. Weapons do and *Some* special items, but not everything
Extra armor is one of those things that doesnt because it's pretty random what people consider to be "Extra" armor. Just because Forgeworld produces something doesnt mean you have to use it. In other news, WYSIWYG is pretty much dead in US tournaments anyhow since the US GTs allowed proxies, unpainted armies and little children running around with toys into the event
There is *alot* of wargear that doesnt need to be modeled as it either A) Has no model or has no description of what it looks like
Its all up to you. Are you a player who enjoys converting and painting everything to extreme quality and has no time to play, or someone who just wants to convert and paint enough so their army looks good? You could also be the third type who doesnt want to paint or convert anything and their army generally looks pretty lame heh
Sadly Extra Armour is something I'm pretty anal about being Wysiwig after (very early into my playing) a GW staff member told me that I couldn't claim to have it on my vehicles (even though I had already paid the points for it), as it needed to represented. This was halfway through one of my first battles when I was younger and so was ...annoying.
GW employees are also known to get even the simplest rules completely wrong.. Really its up to your playgroup, and the referree
I havent seen anyone in my area who cares considering every single vehicle has it.. You should have to convert your vehicles to NOT have it as far as im concerned.
Well seems most people are split on this. Here are the facts as I see it...
1) There is no official GW kit or model that specifically displays extra armor.
2) The LRC that COMES WITH extra armor shows no difference in surface design.
I send an email off to GW customer service, hopefully we will get an answer soon. I made sure to ask as the rule applies to official tournaments.
