i was just wondering if youi can use traits and doctrines if you take them as allies in any of the ordos armies (Daemonhunters, Witchhunters and last but not least Alienhunters)...
I know that any space marines taken must be vanilla, but I'm not sure about IG.
If IG could use doctrines, I could see ultimate cheese, though: take the Grenadier's doctrine, choose two stormtrooper squads as your IG troop choices, and then you have access to the leman russ and other such just for taking two squads you probably would have taken anyway (in a DH army, anyway).
Edit: I just realized, seconds after posting it, why that wouldn't work, since only Armoured Fist and Infantry platoons can be taken as troops from the IG list.
I've looked up this myself. But I think the wording 'no variants of any kind' is quite specific, and seems to imply that doctrines shouldn't be used.
What you can do is make a doctrines army and add hunters to it. But I don't think it works the other way round.
Otherwise.. inquisitorial stormtroopers become useless.. No krak.. and the only compensation is that the leaders have access to a more extensive (but much more expensive) armoury.

The_Giant_Mantis is right: you cannot use traits or doctrines for IG or SM allies to a Inquisition army. If you have a specific SM or IG army, just play them as the base force with DH or WH allies, that's perfectly legal.
