if there are 3 crisis battle-suits in a squad in close combat with a striking scorpion exarch and the exarch scores 2 wounds and i fail both invunerable saves does that kill two battle suits with 2 wounds each toughness 4 or just one battle-suit because of improved characteristics for battle-suits?
2 battlesuits. What does their improved characteristics have to do with anything? They're toughness 4 with the suit, scorpion claw is strength 8 or 9.. Either way they're instant killed
doesn't improved characteristics mean they can't be instant killed??? i'm not sure so .........
--- It doesn't. It simply means You use the modified Toughness for Instant Death, which is not usually the case.Originally Posted by Grand Master Morian

 The modified toughness only works against weapons that don't cause instadeath so for example the space marine biker's toughness is one point higher on a bike, normally you use the increased toughness while being mounted against chainswords bolters las guns power swords.... Weapons that are twice the normal toughness of the rider however kill them outright ie) a meltagun will kill a chaplain outright on a bike even tho when mounted he has a higher modified toughness so your dude in the battlesuit with the increased toughness is smoked outright when you fail a save since you failed 2saves then you lose 2models considering both those attacks instakilled a battlesuit. ^_^ hope this helps
The Only thing evil men need is for good men to sit by and do nothing.
ok thanks but lets keep this our little secret! im pretty spewin about that
Sigh the question was answered fine before.. Now I gotta clarify something again
BATTLESUIT modified toughness COUNTS towards instant death. It is nothing like a bike. A tau battlesuit increases their base toughness to 4, therefore it was 3 yet they are not instant killed by strength 6 or 7 weapons only by 8+
Please dont confuse the info with information that is needed/incorrect
Indeed, Pyruvan you shouldn't really post unless you know the rules for something.
Normally modified toughness does not count towards insta-kill yes, but with the rule we were talking about , modified toughness does count towards insta-kill. This just means that you need strength 8 and not strength 6 to insta-kill Tau battlesuits. Seeing as the Scorpion was strength 8 anyway, it makes no difference, 2 battlesuits are insta-killed.You would cheat just to win? Have you not read the golden rule in the rulebook? Play by the rules, and it will make you a better player.Originally Posted by Grand Master Morian

i will have to tell my friends. blah blah blah but damn! 14 attacks ignoring invun saves against ws2 i mean cmon! and it can fly!!!
The thing to do here is get your friend's to point out where in his codex that it says his Daemon Prince can have 14 attacks, actually get him to point out where it says he can.
Hint: The most I can think of off the top of my head is about 7, including lots of diverse wargear like Banner of Rage and several Daemonic Gifts. The only possible thing I can think that might work would be a Axe of Khorne, where you get an additional attack for every 6 to hit (which would work if you continuously rolled about 7 sixes (unlikely). However you said the person has a weapon that ignores invulnerable saves (Dreadaxe) and the 2 items cannot be taken together. So to sum up, your opponent probably cheats by:
1/ Telling you his Daemon Prince has more attacks than it does.
2/ Telling you the weapon that ignores invulnerable saves (the Dreadaxe) ignores armour saves. The Dreadaxe still allows for armour saves (so your battlesuits still get their 3+).
Get your opponent to open his codex, and then ask him to point out where the rules say he can ignore both armour and invulnerable saves, and where it says the Daemon Prince has 14 attacks. Tell him to start using the rules in the codex. The best thing you could probably do is buy a Chaos Codex and learn his rules for yourself. At the end of the day the problem was caused by your opponent cheating. If you cheat back, you are just as bad as him. I've no sympathy for cheaters.my friends daemon prince somehow gets something like 14 attacks and ignores invulnerable saves and if thats not cheating then what is me keeping ws2 battlesuits alive just that smidge longer???
Really though, you shouldn't be worrying about beating a Daemon Prince in CC anyway, the meat of the Tau army should be from the shooting phase, and you should be doing your damnest to ensure thing is dead before it gets near enough for CC. Superior strategy and generalship will decide your games.
