Now that the new Tyranid codex is coming out, I was wondering what the accepted practices are regarding old codexes and chapter approved. Can I choose to keep using the old Tyranid codex if I want even though there's a new one available? Can I keep using the Chapter Approved stuff like strangleweb and spike rifles that were published before the new codex came out? And I'm guessing I can't mix and match, like use the Carnifex rules from the new codex but the Biovore rules from the old one?
normally you use the most up to fate codex, however you are allowed in agreement with your opponent to use an older codex, mix and match is not a good idea though.
As for CA articles they are still usable even with a new codex.
Strangle Webs and Spike rifles are not in the new codex. I didn't notice before, since they were chapter approved (and I never used the rules) and not included in the 3rd ed book. I would have thought that these new weapons would be in the new codex.
