Hello all, all of you. I have two questions, the first being Can you shoot into a close combat if the combattants arnt your men/friendly?? (or women, anything can happen theese days..)This to me seems completly and utterly suitable, but not to one of my opponents, who I frequently argue with. Also I have recently been pondering what would happen ifi drove a chimera (or any tank/vehicle) over a pinned squad, for xeno-fighting honors, say a squad of guardians. Do they (all who would be hit if simply rumbled right over them) take instant wounds or what?? Oh, ....., I smell some house rules cooking inside some of you, they smell pretty good.
Any help will be much appreciated,
No you cant shoot into any combats even if they werent't your men. But are you saying if the enemy fights each other like with someone like kharn the betrayer having to charge closest unit. Because i that case i would still say no (your soldiers would be so confused as to what is going on they wouldnt bother). And for Pinned units being Tank shocked. The threat of being run over by a tank overrides the pinning.
Sorry to burst your bubble
So, if I am playing a 3 player free for all game, and one of my opponents charge a unit of say, grots, with a unit of grey knight terminators, and a few grot survive and roll an insane leadership test to stay in combat, the terminators is 100% safe from my starcannons? Because it is just too confusing to shoot at someone wous choking a grot?
--- You can not, since the rules expressly prohibit You from doing so, whatever the case may be. Whether it seems unrealistic or not doesn't figure into the rule. =)Originally Posted by SHANNONISBIG
You can make a house rule for that if Your opponents agree, just remember how the rules treat the situation.--- You follow the normal rules for Tank Shock. Being Pinned does not override all Morale, just the one for 25% shooting casualties as clearly stated in the Pinning rules.what would happen ifi drove a chimera (or any tank/vehicle) over a pinned squad,
I fail to see what relevance "Xeno-fight honours" and enemy unit type have?

I agree that it doesn't make alot of sense that you couldnt shoot into a combat composed entirely of opposing models. However, if you think from the perspective of a member of your army, you cant be completely sure if there isnt a allied unit in the conflict. YOU may know with your god-like knowledge of whats going on in the battle, but your army wouldn't. As such in your army's mind there would be a risk of hitting their own units if they fired into any close combat. If you want to do a house rule on this though, I would do it much the same as shooting at a unit other than the closest one to you. If you want to shoot into close combat, your unit would first have to pass a leadership test to determine if there is any of their own allies in that particular close combat. As normal, any enemy units in the close combat would be exempt from the usual "closest enemy unit" rules for purposes of shooting.
Well my games workshop store says you can.
Lets say 10 marines were fighting 10 dark eldar warriors in cc. My tau firewarriors can shoot at the squad like regular without having to take a leadership test unless there is another unit. Now since the combat is evenly matched (10vs10) i have a 50/50 chance of hitting either side. So i roll to hit as normal then roll another dice after the to hit rol (before the to wound roll) to see which unit you hit. 1-3 marines 4-6 dark eldar warriors. Then i roll to wound as normal against which i hit.
Now if the combat was uneven say 15:10 the odds of hitting the different guys in cc. say 1-2 for the lower number of models 3-6 for the higher end number of models.
I belive you can shoot into cc if it doesn't involve any of your units.
No, that would be an example of the house rules Uzi-99 mentioned.
Greetings from Planet X, I hope you enjoy your day.

Yeh they probably used that rule to make three way games go faster
Thank you, you are all very healpful, I think I'm ganna have to concoct some house rules, if you guys have any ideas I would like to hear them, maby only using blasts or something to do with grenades and the like. I also have been building a codex with my friends, this might seem a little stupid to some of you, but we each made ourselves, Im an extremly hardcore sniper, and one of my mates is a demo-expert, one is an Eldar dude, and etc, etc. Ill post the rules for them some time. If any one else wants to make a special character, give us a yell.
