Where in the Maggrage Rulebook does it say there are no guess weapons anymore?
I don't think that it is explicitly stated that guess weapons are gone. However, given that there are no longer any rules for guess weapons, it become obvious that they no longer exist in the game. In their place, we have barrage weapons.
Any place you see "guess" written (such as a codex or what have you), just pretend it says "barrage" and use the barrage weapon rules.
Also note that it doesn't always say "Guess" or "Barrage" in the weapon description... In this case, look at the range. If it is, for example, G36", the weapon is a Barrage weapon with a 36" range.
Guess = Barrage.
"The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all biomatter consumed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be devoured."
This is just for fluff reasons, the questions has already been answered above.
The reasons that guess was removed, to my knowledge, are-
1. Some people (young players) could not guess ranges, where older players could drop templates with unnerving accuracy.
1a. This I actualy saw happen. At a tourny a guy came early and measured the distance of every table, from every piece of terrain to another piece. With this he could triangulate exact distances. Cheesy, beardy and not nice.
2. The rules wre abused by nominating a target point beyond a CC and then deliberately short guessing, allowing shooting into a CC. Really good for guard.
There may be others, but I have not been told them yet.
Last time I was at GW people were still using Guess weapons. Your right the little kids sucked at it. I could land a template anywere just becuase I know the table was 4' x 8', it was 2 tables together so the line as the 4 mark for the long distance.
Then they were using incorrect rules
Guess weapons remain in the game because the older codexs use that terminalogy.. Which is all it is
Guess = barrage, nothing more or less
