Index Astartes IV

OK, I opened up my US WD305 to about the sixth page to get a preview of June's upcoming releases. I was rather surprised to see that we can expect to see the release of "Index Astartes IV" during the month of June, and it would have information on the Black Legion, Salamanders, Predators (damn STC...), and Raven Guard. This brings up a very improtant question, and it needs answering ASAP before the rules lawyers start looking for loopholes.

The question is, are the rules in the Index Astartes volumes for Loyalist Chapters still in play? I only ask because of the release notice in US WD 305. Any clarification is welcome, but it must be clear enough for our fellow LOers to read without getting an eyeful of netspeak.

Try to remember that very few pages in the Index Astartes books actually have rules. It's mostly just a fluff book

Lets take a look at it

Black Legion, already has a big codex called Chaos Space marines

Predator, not even an army just a unit that is in many codexs

Salamanders, reduced to "a random chapter" as per codex space marines same for the Raven guard. Its possible they'll get new rules but I very much doubt it

As for the old index astartes rules, no they are no longer legal and are superceded by the new SM codex (even flesh tearers).. The only chapters that may use their old special rules are the big 3 + black templars

That's very interesting. If the Index Astartes rules no longer apply, then why release a new volume besides fluff reasons? It makes no sense at all... Guess the only way to find out for certain is to flip through it when it comes out. I should pay my local Rogue Trader a visit anyways.

I have already read the book, it is only background, there aren´t rules...it is sad, i think the sistem of the Codex Space MArines to make chapitules is "weak".

Sorry, like i always say, i´m spanish and i don´t know the exact name for some rules in english, yeah i mean about the sistem of chapters rules, i think it fail.

The Salamanders and The White Scars had more...personality before, the combination of rules and equipment make them unique Chapters, now this equipment is lost or every Codex Chapter can use it.

I think what Gonfrask means is that It was better when Salamanders etc used the IA rules, rather than the 3 lines of traits they now have iun the new codex.
