    IG Heavy Weapons Platoons

I am just wondering how do you find out if wounds hit the Gun or Crew. And what gun will it hit in the platoon? Also what happens to the crew if the weapon is blown up. Also if the gun is in a squad how do you find out if wounds hit heavy weapon team or regular guardsmen?
I'm really sorry for the stupid question. I'm also sorry if this is the wrong forum( I thought it was a rule Question) Thank you for Answers in advance.

    Ok, this is simple.
Your gun can't be hit as it is not artillery. The only things that take hits are the infantry, and no a heavy weapon team isn't a 2 wound model. If one guys dies the weapon is removed and only one of the guardsmen is remains.

    Example.

2 guardsmen manning a lascannon take incoming fire and one dies. The lascannon is now considered destroyed and is removed from play.

It's just good fluffwise. You can see the two little men, good buddies that work together a lot scuttling from cover to cover, firing reloading as a team. Kinda like all those people in Matrix revolutions that used the rockets.

Nowhere in any addendum or codex does it mention or hint at two guardsmen being needed to fire a heavy weapon. It doesnt even say more than one guardsman is handling the weapon at one time.

The phrase "Two guardsmen not acting as special weapons or vox casters may group up to form a heavy weapon team" pretty much implys that you need 2.

    If I'm wrong though I wouldn't be suprised...It's happened before. ^_^

Baratos is right. You can get rid of the ammunition guy and your lascannon will function exactly the same way as it did if there were two guardsmen. It just take up two for some pointless reason.

Haruuu, tis true, if a heavy weapons platoon (6 men 3 heavy weapons) took 3 wounds, assuming all morale checks were passed they could fire all 3 weapons next turn
"Ah.. i'm almost done with these 3rd quater spreadsheets and still no sign of.."
    "What, is up, my dog?"
    "Ughhh I'm not your dog"
"Waterman, you crack me up! that's why you're my D-O-G-E"
"Your Doge? What are you talking about? I'm Strong Bad Waterman works in retial shipping resources"
"Ah-ha Good one waterman, I mean good one MY DOG"

This is possibly the most argued about thing in 40K! why does everyone insist that it takes 2 to fire the lascannon? I mean I run across it constantly, in fact I keep playing IG and having to correct them!

It's not so much the shooting that takes 2, but the movement. A lascannon is pretty big and it's made out of solid metal so it probly weighs a fair amount. Also there's alot of setup involved once they actually reach the postion. Cables need to be hooked up, ammo belts fed into the weapon and stands setup up.

Also, why would the codex state that you need 2 in order to form a team if only one would do? Makes no sense to me, even for GW.
