I was under the impression that ballistic skill is used with any shooting attack except those using (flamer-type) templates. However, someone recently pointed out to me that both the ordnance and barrage rules don't specify rolling to hit using ballistic skill. Since it's standard procedure for most shooting, I would assume that rolling using ballistic skill is implied, except that both the ordnance and barrage rules give a step-by-step account of their use without mention of ballistic skill, and they sort of state that whether they hit the target or not is dependent on scatter rolls. So . . . any insights? thank you and good night |

Instead of using the BS of the firer they scatter depending if they have los, moved etc. SO even orks will hit something with a one shot.

Well; Imo; it is possible for stray small arms fire to go unnoticed on the battlefield. But the heavyweights are tracked by spotters to help adjust fire range and effect and so on, and even if they weren't, they are very capable of altering the landscape in such a way as to make their presence felt even when they don't hit anything specific. So why make them try to hit their target by rolling BS? Those rounds Are coming down! It's just a matter of whether or not they are 'crowd pleasers' or 'terrain decorations'! |
