The rules clearly state any Ork mob shot at 'through' a Gretchin mob may take the 'Living Shield' 5+ cover saving throw. My question relates to Barrage weapons, as logically they shoot over the Gretchin and into the Orks as the shots rain down from the sky. However, it may be the intention of Games Workshop that Orks are just simply protected against shooting by Gretchin mobz regardless of how the incoming shot/s are rationalised.

How is this rule usually interpreted?

Also, is there an official ruling anywhere? I have not been able to find one as yet.

Thanks guys/gals.

I don't think ordinance weapons should be effected by the living shield in that scenario, but I don't know of any official rules.

No, they cannot, because of the wording of the living shield rule: it only works for ork mobs for whom the incoming fire passes through the Grot mob, barrages obviously don't go through em.

On the same topic, "Guess" weapons always go over things, so even if you're directly behind a building, you can still shoot straight out.
Henceforth no man shall set foot upon the world, and all around shall be set sentinals to ward away unwary spacecraft. We must accept that this place is lost to us forever, and is now the eternal habitation of abomination.

Guess weapons do well against Orks, but be sure to target the densest concentration of units. Pick twenty Grotz over three Killer Kans.

Thanks, Chicken^Tonight, looks like we have been playing it correctly

To the rest of you, on page 5:

Ork Q&A

'Living Shield' apparently DOES provide Orks behind Gretchin with the 5+ save.

Like i said have said elsewhere, the streamlined nature of this editon overrides common sense in many areas.

I like to think that the orks are holding squealing gretchin above their heads as the shells fall.
