    Simple question about IC

If an IC has a retinue, it always says "counts as an IC, unless accompanied by a retinue" So with a retinue, it's not an IC, right?

So, with a retinue, can the character still be targeted in CC seperate from the rest of his squad? Cuz many people tell me he can be, while it seems to me the whole point of having the retinue rather than just joining him up with some random squad, is so he can't be targeted, right?

Even with a retinue, the IC has to be targeted specifically in CC. You can't have his retinue soak up wounds in CC. However, if he's shot at, then the retinue takes the wounds since you can't pick the IC out.

But if you're unit charges him and his retinue, then only models from your unit in base contact with him (not other models in contact with his retinue) can inflict wounds on him, correct?

Correct, only models "engaged" with the IC can attack him.

    yep,

basically, ICs are their own unit in close combat
only those in base to base contact
(or those in formation / 2" of the base-to-basers)
can be models who allocate their attacks to the IC...

which means, if the IC charges, and wounds enough to kill all those in base contact and within 2" of the base contact guys, then he can save himself from a counterattack...

Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

"Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women"

"JESUS SAVES! the rest of your models each take a wound."
