i was wondering, i know models that are a little over half the length of the model its screening can block line of sight. but how about spacing inbetween lets say a unit of models. say i have a unit of space marines, can i place them within 2" coherency as a line infront of a dreadnaught and block los?

LOS isnt automatically blocked by units, only by individual models. If you keep your marines 2" apart, youll still be able to get a clear LOS to the dread in the gaps between the marines as well as above the marines (dreads are huge and cannot be blocked by tiny marines)

SM can't block LoS to dreads anyway, as a dread is a vehicle.
