Rep Power: 44 Commander NoOne has reached XXXVIII
Default Power fist, Power sword combination

My brother and I both play space marines, he has a Chaplan with a power fist and Crozius Arcanum, and I have a Sergeant with a power fist and power wepon. The question is, can you use both weapons in an assualt phase or split the attacks between the fist and the power weapons?

If someone knows witch page in the BIG BOOK this paticular rule is stated please let me know. Ive read in a previous thread about this but I would like to know a sited rule or where stated.

No, you use only 1 weapon per assault phase.. You cannot split attacks

Power weapon + power fist is sorta silly as it's a huge amount of points

I don't know where to look in the book, but I know the rule is that you can only use 1 weapon per phase AFAIK, so in the first turn of assault you could use the Power weapon in hopes of getting a quick kill but in the second turn you could go with the Power Fist to pack more punch. (*wince*, bad pun )

Hey, Why can't I edit my post?

Anyways, Dammit Kirasu you stole my punchline! *die due to bad pun*

And if the char your giving the PW/PF combo to is a cahracter hunter it's not so bad, as even killing 1 char can often redeem may of the points, the main use is for versatility, example:

Vs a Carnifex you'd want to use the Power Fist, due to having more power, but Vs Necron Warriors you want that Power weapon so you can hit them first.

Page 46 has the notes on special close combat weapons and this situation. A model must make all attacks with one weapon as Kirasu said.

I recall answering this issue for someone else before, so try the search function if you can.

Cheers, Lleu.

All prior to me are correct. However, in the case of Wolf Lord Logan Grimmnar His Axe of Morkai may split his attacks in CC, The Axe may be used as both a Power Fist and Power Weapon. I.e: 2 attacks as a Power fist, 2 attacks as a Power Weapon: in the same turn!

Yea everyone on this thread is right.
You can only use 1 weapon per assault phase.
So its either the power fist or the power weapon or in yoiur brothers case the power fist or the Crozius Arcanum.

As an additional comment I would stay away from power fists and thunder hammers for Characters. In combat, as per the rule book, they count as a seperate unit so can be targetted, even if they have a body guard. By giving them a power fist you are concining them to hitting last. This means they are wide open to getting a kicking, particularly against powerfull opponents (stuff that ignores saves).

This is particularly pertinent when you look at things where the increased Str would be an advantage (TMCs)

Power fists are best used in teh squads (hidden power fists) where they can not be targeted before they hit. Give them to your vet sgts!

Can characters with power fist be targeted even if they have a bodyguard??
I always thought that when they are with their bodyguard they dont count as independant characters thus they cannot be individually targeted.

Yes, they can still be targetted. When in CC they can be targetted because they count as a separate unit in CC. They can't be individually targetted with shooting, however, unless a special rule allows the opponent to do so.
