How Does A Guess Weapon Work, Is It The Same As Barage Or Different.
Guess weapons are now gone in 4th edition. All guess weapons now follow the ordinance rules. Scattering etc.
You mean barrage rules, not ordinance for weapons labled:Originally Posted by ZombieKiller

You don't actually have to guess with 4th Edition. Declare your target, measure the distance, and if your target is out of range then the shot is a complete miss. If it is inside the range of your weapon then you scatter as per barrage rules. If the shot happens to scatter out of range then it still counts, only the initial shot can miss.
You are basically guessing though, since you have to declare your target before you know if it is in range.

Yeah, but you have to do this for all weapons as you cannot pre-measure range before selecting the target (without targeters at least). I think this change has made Guess weapons much more powerful as I was always terrible at guessing range to target in inches.
I do not criticize. I do not offend. All I offer is my opinion which means only as much as you make it.
true true, all except for one little piece of IG tech called the bassilisk, which still is guess range (go figure)-at least according to those I know and trust that play them in 4th ed.
All weapons with guess range use the 4th edition barrage rule, no exception. As it has been said there is no more "guessing", you simply nominate a target that does not have to be in LOS and follow the barrage rules
but there is a faq pertaining to the basilisk, as is my understanding of the matter, or it's in IA
Sure, it's all guesswork. The difference is that in 3rd Edition they actually made you guess the range and measure it out. :wacko:Originally Posted by Ebon Hand
Being able to pick your target and just hoping that it's inside the min/max range of the weapon makes things a lot simpler and the game should flow more. :yes:To my knowledge the 4th Edition rulebook reclassified all guess weapons as barrage weapons. Can you post a reference for this one if/when you find it?Originally Posted by tarzen
