In Codex Armageddon it says that A warboss (or big mek) has to be transported in a wartrukk or a battlewagon. Now does this mean that he has to travel in one by himself (because I won't take a bodyguard), or can he just start off with a unit in a wartrukk at the start of the game?
By day he fought with sword and shield.....
By night he fought with pen and parchment.....

They need to have a wartrukk, but there's no reason they have to ride in that particular one. Some speed freek players I've seen use the boss' trukk as a final fallback point for their boys, to keep them from running off the edge of the table when all else fails.
Same goes with a battlewagon. It's one way to get ALOT of dakka down on the field, I guess...
