In my Daemonhunter army and Imperial Guard Army I noticed things in the rules about Armour Penetration. For example, for a Callidus assassin it says to roll a D3 against the Glancing hits table. However the weapon doesn't have a strength value, does that mean it is automatically a Glancing hit?
The same with an Eversor Assassin. It says the needle pistol has armour penetration of D6 against vehicles but doesn't have a strength value. So what does that mean? Its a bit confusing tbh.
And finally, Sniper rifles. If you roll to hit against a vehicle and hit, do you just roll 2D6 and then the result is the value you put against the vehicles armour value?
The strength of these weapons are variable. So you roll the dice and that's the armor penetration score. So a sniper rifle could glance armor 12 with a good roll but couldn't ever penetrate anything greater than armor 11. I have no idea why they even refer to armor penetration for a needle pistol as I belive the lowest armor value is 10 and therefore could never be penetrated.Originally Posted by IbramGaunt
The rules for the Callidus is an automatic glance if you hit with only the lowest three possibilities allowed. Thus a callidus can never destroy a vehicle.
I do not criticize. I do not offend. All I offer is my opinion which means only as much as you make it.
1. Yes, if you can hit the vehicle with the Callidus assassin's weapon, it's an automatic hit, you get a D3 on the glancing table.
2. As far as the needle pistol, I'm not sure about that, seeing as most vehicles i've seen are at least 10+, which a 1-6 armor penatration wouldn't do anything against.
3. Thats correct for snipers. You can theroeticly do something to armors 2-12.
Remember Eldar Sniper rifles are resolved slightly diffrently. If you roll a 6 to hit it counts as AP1, so it can pentrate instead of only glance
