I was playing against my neighbor who plays space marines and he stated that he can opt to wait to deepstrike till any turn he wanted (of coarse obeying the rule that if it was the second turn they would come in on a 4+, next turn 3+, etc.).
Then he would for example wait till like the last turn to deepstrike on an objective with his entire army and tie for an objective or destroy my units guarding the objective by shooting. Just shooting is pretty powerful when he deepstrikes like 5 termies, and 20-25 space marines shooting at my guard.
In short is this legal to "wait" to deepstrike?
...And they shall fear the lasgun
Nope. You must roll for reserves as soon as possible. P 84, 85.Originally Posted by Sniffles the Cat

The only thing you can wait to roll for is a Whitchhunters Orbital Strike. I'm not really sure if it counts as deep strike per se, but you roll for it in the same way.
Or a Daemonhunters one, as it's mechanically identical. And no, it doesn't count as a Deepstrike. It falls under the Reserves rule, which is actually what you're rolling for. Deepstriking is just the physical deployment method of some units that can be held in Reserve.Originally Posted by Lord Malachi
Your supposed to roll for reserves as normal on turn 2, however there have been several players i have know to "forget" to roll on turn 2, and then roll on turn 3. Call it as you will, if its a one turn difference you can't really argue, however if its the last turn then yea you can gladly call him on it. That would be like playing deathwing and deciding not to roll until the last turn then bam! 6 units of terminators on the objective
40K-Beakies(9-14-4),Guard(4-7-2),Orks(34-12-11). FANTASY-Dwarves(15-6-7),Beasts (14-14-1), Skaven (17-17-10) DoC (6-1-2). CYGNAR (28-15-1)
Your reserve forces must enter play as soon as they are available. The only real deviant from this is Ulthwe, if they're using wraithgates.

That's why it's as much your responsibility as it is theirs. I'm going to print a good-sized sheet containing the turn phases and laminate it so we can simply follow the steps for each turn. I'm hoping to prevent this mistake from happening.Originally Posted by MouseC112
