The tau crisis suits can move 6 inches in mvmt phase and another 6 inches in assault phase-my question is, can they "walk" instead of flying in the assault phase? If the fly out of cover, shoot, then move back into cover, can they take a difficult terrain roll and move into cover or do they have to fly into cover and risk dying when they land?
You should walk into terrain and jump out to prevent a difficult terrain roll. I believe it indicates in the Tau codex that a model may either jump using the normal jump rules or skim across the ground and use the normal infantry movement rules (no difficult terrain tests). read the section at the beginning of the codex describing Tau jetpacks for a more detailed explanation.
I do not criticize. I do not offend. All I offer is my opinion which means only as much as you make it.
If they wanted to move as infantry rather then use their jetpacks, they would have to follow the rules of normal infantry, IE they only assault phase movement that they would receive would be a charge if that charge resulted in CC. If you want to move else ware, you must use the jetpack, as it is what provides you with that option, following all the rules that govern difficult/dangerous terrain in the process.Originally Posted by chrach
