Hey guys I am just double checking on something to make sure our group is doing it right. In the current rules edition multiple template weapons have to be resolved one at a time when being fired from the same unit where as before you would be allowed to place a blast template and then just multiply the result. Obviously this got out of hand when it came to something like Plasma cannon devastators completely obliterating Termie squads and other examples like that. However, the way we have been doing it now with the new rules is place the blast Template then resolve casualties and the player removes casualties then I place another blast marker, and so on. Each blast template getting less hits than the previous one b/c more casualties are removed. Now I come to wonder what is the point of even having multiple blast weapons from one unit when you have to pay the extra points cost for it, and its damage is essentially the same as having several tact squads each with a plasma cannon. I Also have a friend who plays SOB's and is also frusterated by the fact that he cannot get multiple flame templates to be as effective as it once was.
Are we doing something wrong? B/C recently when I look at the rules I think the word resolve in the 40k rulebook does not neccesarily mean to remove models, but to determine hits and wounds first then place another template, and once all template hits and wounds have been resolved you then remove models. This would make sense for the standard shooting rules as then your opponent can determine where all the hits are to be assigned to when figuring bolter and the blast weapon armor saves together according to the majority armor rule.
So I would like some player input from you experts out there.![]()
